Kathryn M. Best, 100, of Huntington, IN, and formerly of Union Township, Markle, IN, died Friday afternoon, Feb. 21, 2014, at the Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Mrs. Best was a homemaker and farm wife. She was a 1932 graduate of West Union High School. She was an active member of the Markle Church of Christ, having played in the church orchestra and helped in many areas of the church over the years.
She was born Oct. 12, 1913, in Story County, IA, to Frank V. and Emma C. Burnett Lund. She married D. Howard Best on May 18, 1934, in Markle at the Church of Christ parsonage. Her husband preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 2002.
Survivors include two sons, Bevan D. (Virginia) Best and Phillip L. (Cathy) Best, both of Markle; a sister, Mary (Lloyd) Overholt, of Markle; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Calling is Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Markle Church of Christ, 455 E. Morse St., Markle. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the church, with Greg Comp and Gerald O. Moreland officiating. Interment will take place at the Markle Cemetery at a later date.
