Joy K. Baker, 71, of Huntington, IN, died Sunday morning, June 8, 2014, in Gatlinburg, TN.
Mrs. Baker was a 1960 graduate of Huntington Township High School. She was a homemaker and had also worked at Indiana Bell and Memcor. She had also served as Polk Township trustee.
She was a member of the women's Extension Club and had been a member for more than 50 years of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir and taught Sunday school. She was a Girl Scout for several years and received the Curved Bar award.
She was born June 29, 1942, in Huntington to Roger A. and Mildred N. Ward Oswalt. She married John L. Baker on April 6, 1968, in Huntington. Her husband survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Jennifer (Steve) Miller, of Andrews; a son, John Michael "Mike" (Jenn McCann) Baker, of Andrews; a brother, William "Bill" (Carmen) Oswalt, of Huntington; and a granddaughter, Brittany Miller.
Calling is Thursday, June 12, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. A service will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 530 Guilford St., Huntington. Interment will be at Star of Hope Cemetery, Huntington County.
Memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association or Trinity United Methodist Church choir in care of Myers Funeral Home.
