It's another weekend filled with holiday spirit, as Santa Claus will make appearances in both Roanoke and Markle.
Roanoke's "Christmas in the Village" gets under way on Friday, Dec. 2, with Santa's arrival and other festivities.
Santa will return on Saturday, Dec. 3, for Markle's "Christmas in Our Town" celebration.
Here's where you want to be:
Roanoke
Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive in downtown Roanoke on Friday, Dec. 2, at 5:45 p.m. They will lead the children to Zent Commons, at First and Main streets, to sing Christmas carols and light the town Christmas tree.
Once that's done, Santa will walk across the street to the Roanoke Town Hall to hear Christmas wishes. Hot chocolate and cookies will be available, and children can take part in some holiday crafts. The Roanoke Library will host a Christmas storytelling session.
On Saturday, Dec. 3, the Cornerstone Alliance Church on Lafayette Center Road will host breakfast with Santa from 9 to 11 a.m. Pancakes and sausage will be served for a free-will donation.
Downtown businesses plan special Christmas hours.
Markle
Santa arrives at the Markle Church of Christ atop a fire truck on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 9:30 a.m. to kick off Markle's "Christmas in Our Town." He'll be the guest of honor at a breakfast at the church from 9:30 to 10 a.m. and will pose for photos from 10 a.m. to noon and again from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Also at the Markle Church of Christ, a craft and product show - complete with a Cookie Corner and concessions - will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A children's coloring contest starts at 10 a.m., and a chili cook-off gets under way at 1 p.m.
Over at TurnPointe Community Church, an art show will feature six local artists as well as the children of Muddy Feet PreK. The site will also feature live music and a Christmas tree show with entries by local businesses, all from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The Markle United Methodist Church will serve a soup supper from 4 to 6:30 p.m. A Cookie Corner will also be open during those times. Also during those hours, children can shop for Christmas at the Kids Shoppe. An organ concert will begin at 7 p.m.
The Markle Exit 86 Antique Mall will hold an open house on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. with refreshments, live music and drawings. Tender Gardens will hold an open house on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
At the Markle Library, a children's story and craft at 11 a.m. will follow the theme "Snowmen at Christmas."
Train rides, live reindeer and refreshments will be offered by Markle Health and Rehabilitation from 1 to 3 p.m.
... And in Huntington
Just in case you need more Christmas spirit, more events are taking place in Huntington.
The theater and music departments of Huntington University will ring in the season with "'Tis The Season: A Christmas Celebration" on Dec. 2 and 3. Both shows are at 7:30 p.m. in the Merillat Center for the Arts. Tickets will be sold at the door.
The Forks of the Wabash Historic Park will host its annual Christmas Tree Walk on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 4, from 1 to 4 p.m. Visitors can make a donation to vote for their favorite tree.
