Christmas trees, reindeer set the tone for Holiday Walk in Warren on Friday
Thursday, November 21, 2013 7:51 AM
Christmas trees and reindeer set the tone for the Holiday Walk in Warren on Friday, Nov. 22.
The Holiday Walk includes the Festival of Trees, which will feature 25 decorated trees set up in businesses, churches and the Warren library, as well as music, refreshments and other holiday activities.
All events take place from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The evening is also opening night for "Narnia," on stage at the Pulse Opera House at 8 p.m.
A map showing the locations of the trees, all located in the downtown Warren area, is available in the Town Hall Annex. Visitors will be able to vote on their favorite trees by making donations to the Warren Ministerial Association.
Downtown merchants and churches will open their doors to visitors, offering holiday treats and hot drinks.
Visitors can also meet live reindeer, which will be located on Second Street throughout the evening. Horse-drawn wagon rides will also leave from the Second Street location.
The Joy Pleasers clowns will be wandering throughout the area.
Several activities for children will take place throughout the evening. Children's games, sponsored by Small World Nursery, will take place on Second Street or in the PNC Bank lobby. The Warren office of the Markle Medical Group will offer face painting inside the PNC lobby.
Pre-school story times will be offered at the Warren Public Library at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., and a Christmas puppet show will be performed at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the United Church of Christ on Second Street.
Music for the evening starts out with Christmas caroling near the corner of Wayne and Second streets from 5:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., led by Dillman United Brethren Church and Hillcrest Nazarene Church.
The United Church of Christ on Second Street will offer Christmas music on the organ from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. More caroling, with harpsichord accompaniment, will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Courtyard Studio.
Praise band music will take place from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Church of Christ on Third Street.
The evening is coordinated by Historic Warren, an Indiana Main Street initiative.
