Monday, November 25, 2013 7:49 AM
Santa Claus is almost here.
The jolly old elf will make his first Huntington County appearance of the season on Friday, Nov. 29, in Warren.
The Warren Fire Department will escort Santa into the heart of downtown Warren beginning at 6 p.m. He'll hold a meet-and-greet at the corner of Second and Wayne streets overseeing the lighting of the downtown area.
The lighting ceremony will take place about 6:15 p.m.
Christmas lights will adorn buildings and light poles as well as the community Christmas tree located outside the Town Hall. The community tree will also be decorated with bows placed on its branches honoring living and deceased loved ones.
At 6:30 p.m., Santa will lead his fans on a short walk from the Town Hall to the Knight-Bergman Center. Santa will officiate at the lighting of the grounds there.
Beginning at 6:45 p.m., Santa will station himself inside the Knight-Bergman Center auditorium to listen to Christmas wishes. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served.
Santa will return to the Knight-Bergman Center on Saturday, Nov. 30, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for another round of listening to wishes. Cookies and drinks will again be served.
