Christmas in City set for Nov. 24 in Huntington

Featuring children’s activities, a visit by Santa Claus and a tree lighting ceremony, Christmas in the City will take place in downtown Huntington on Saturday, Nov 24.

Children’s activities will run from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will be located in the third block of the downtown area. The activities will include free camel, pony and train rides, a petting zoo, face painting in the 5th Parlour and ornament painting in Giggabuggy, the latter which will have a small fee.

Santa Claus will arrive by a fire truck at approximately 5:45 p.m. for the “Lights of the Night” tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. at Rotary Centennial Park.
The “Lights of the Night” tree lighting ceremony will include glow sticks, caroling and assorted treats and candy canes from Party Shop elves. The Huntington County Children’s Choir will also sing at the ceremony.

A parade to the Courthouse will be led by Santa Claus and the fire truck will follow. Children along with their parents can parade to the Courthouse through the downtown area.

Santa will visit with children in the Courthouse rotunda. While waiting to visit with Santa, children will be provided with candy canes from the Party Shop and Bob Burnsworth at Coldwell Banker and children in attendance can color, eat cookies and enjoy hot chocolate. Free photos with Santa will be taken by Frederick’s Photography.

The annual event is being coordinated by the Downtown Business Association, the City of Huntington and the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce.
