The 2009 Salamonie Summer Festival will be held on July 2 through 5, in Warren.
To kick off the event, the annual Samuel L. Jones Pioneer Breakfast will be held at the Knight Bergman Center Thursday, July 2, at 7:30 a.m. It is sponsored by the Warren Chamber of Commerce.
Also on Thursday, a number of activities will take place at Tower Park.
The food court will be open from 5 to 11 p.m.
From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Warren Sportsman Club will host an open house, which will include free fishing games for children.
At 6 p.m., Warren Baseball League sponsors the coaches' tournament.
The Salamonie Summer Festival will sponsor the performance of Andrew Dean, from 7 to 10 p.m.
The balloon launch will be held at 9:30 p.m. and is sponsored by Small World Nursery School.
The fireworks show will be held at dusk. In the event of rain, the show will be moved to July 5.
Friday's festivities include an all-day antique tractor show, sponsored by The Daughtery Companies.
Parkview Huntington Hospital sponsors the Samaritan Flyover, at 6:30 p.m.
The 42nd annual parade starts at 6:30 p.m. The grand marshal will be the 2009 Samuel L. Jones Pioneer winner.
This year, the festival will be featured on a live broadcast on 99.3 WCJC.
Barry Jamison will perform a selection of patriotic numbers prior to the start of the parade.
The parade sponsor is Glancy Funeral Homes.
At 7 p.m., the Garden Tractor Pull will be held at the Knight Bergman Center. Weigh-in starts at 6 p.m. Indiana
Garden Tractor Pullers Association sponsors the event.
The T.R.S.S. Drum Corps will perform on Stage II, at 8 p.m. and their performance is sponsored by Glancy Funeral Homes.
"Backwater" will be on Stage II, from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Huntington County Visitors Bureau sponsors the group's performance.
The all-day antique tractor show will continue on Saturday.
Also on Saturday, is the pancake breakfast, from 6:30 to 10 a.m., sponsored and hosted by the Warren's Sportsman Club.
Tower Park will be the site of a co-ed softball tournament, starting at 8 a.m.
At 9 a.m., a three-on-three basketball tournament will be held at the Knight Bergman Center. The event is sponsored by Heartland Aluminum.
Also at 9 a.m., is the pedal tractor pull, which will be held on Wayne Street. Shuttleworth Insurance sponsors the activity.
From 9 to 11 a.m., Langston Estates will host a fishing derby. Sign-up starts at 8:30 a.m., at Evalution Real Estate.
A volleyball tournament will start at 10 a.m. at Tower Park. The tournament is sponsored by Warren Service & Supply and Helena Chemical.
The Knight Bergman Center's lawns will be the site of a community cookout from 11 a.m. ro 1 p.m. The public is welcome and there is a small cost.
Wayne Street will be hopping at noon with a frog-jumping contest.
Basket bingo will be held at the Knight Bergman Center, starting at 12:30 p.m. Sigma Phi Gamma sponsors the event.
East of Chicago Pizza sponsors Mark's Ark and his amazing animals, at 1 p.m., on Stage II.
The S.A.M. (Salamonie Active Men) Olympics will be held at 2 p.m., at the Knight Bergman Center.
First Baptist Church will host a fish and tenderloin supper, from 4 to 7 p.m. The church is located on the corner of Wayne and 8th streets.
The 10th annual Rodeo International Pro Rodeo Association & Central States Rodeo Association event will start at 7 p.m., at the Knight Bergman Center. The event is sponsored by the Warren Chamber of Commerce.
Biff & The Cruisers will be on Stage II, from 8 to 11 p.m. They are sponsored by Heartland Aluminum & Saturn Wheel.
The antique tractor show continues on Sunday.
Also Sunday, the Salamonie Summer Festival Road Rally starts at 8 a.m.
Sign-in runs from 8 to 9 a.m., at East of Chicago Pizza and the last automobile/motorcycle will leave at 9 a.m.
All entries must be in by 1 p.m., at Wagon Wheel Café.
There is a cost and the fee includes breakfast and lunch.
Warren Area Ministerial Association will be holding a community worship service, at 11 a.m., at the center stage on Main St.
Rev. Kathy Newton of Solid Rock United Methodist Church will present the message.
The Joy Class will sponsor the potato bake, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Knight Bergman Center.
Waterball fights start at 1 p.m., at the center and sign-up time is from noon to start time. Warren Fire Department sponsors the activity.
From 2 to 5 p.m. the Car & Bike Cruise In will be held on Wayne St. The event is sponsored by the Salamonie Active Men.
The Knight Bergman Center will host the demolition derby at 3 p.m. A+ Towing sponsors the event.
Continuing activities include food vendors on 2nd Street, product vendors on Nancy Street, family fun freeway, on 2nd Street. and baby photo contest, at the Town Annex.
The peddlers' corner will be held on July 3, from 3 to 9 p.m. and July 4, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
A town-wide rummage sale will be held July 3 and 4. Registration was due to the Town Hall by June 26.
United Church of Christ will host a comforter raffle and winners will be announced at the demolition derby.
Warren Sportsman Club sponsors a gun raffle and the Longaberger basket raffle and the Warren Fire Department sponsors a 50-50 drawing.
"The Bunker" military display will be on Wayne and 2nd streets.
A flower show will be held at the Town Annex. Entries are due by July 2, between noon and 5 p.m. The show runs on July 3 and 4, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day.
Entries may be picked up on July 5, between noon and 2 p.m.
The festival committee sponsors a family fun package giveaway and the winner will be announced at the demolition derby.
The Knight Bergman Center will host the USS Salamonie Crews reunion, July 3 through 5.
