Haynes, Leas and Pursifull will reign over summer festivities in Warren

Out of a group of 20 girls in three age categories, three were crowned on Saturday, April 25, to represent the town of Warren during Salamonie Summer Festival events.

The winners are Hayley Jo Haynes, Miss Warren; Cambri Leas, Junior Miss Warren; and Hailey Pursifull, Little Miss Warren. The titles represent new monikers changed this year.

Haynes, 16, was crowned the 2015 Miss Warren out of four girls who vied for the title. She is the daughter of Joe and Melinda Haynes. She was sponsored by Warpup Farms.

The Huntington North High School sophomore participates in class council, Huntington youth leadership, freshman mentoring and Viking Volume show choir. She has received the LaFontaine Arts Council Award and earned certificates from National Junior Honor Society as well as Huntington Youth Leadership Academy.

Haynes is a Sunday school worker at the Warren Church of Christ and is also a junior leader at Lake James Christian Assembly.
Her hobbies include singing and dancing and she enjoys babysitting. She also works at Heritage Pointe.

After high school, Haynes plans to attend Ball State University to major in neonatology and minor in music therapy.

First runner-up in the 14 to 18 Miss Warren group was Sarah Jones, who also received the Miss Photogenic award in her group. She is the daughter of DeWayne and Kelly Jones. Second runner-up was Lacey Boxell. She is the daughter of Adam and Amber Boxell and Jason and Tina Watts.

Rylee Williams also participated in the Miss Warren group, and was chosen by her peers as Miss Congeniality. She is the daughter of Angie Williams and Joe and Ashley Williams.

Winning the Junior Miss Warren title, Leas, 9, was the 2014 Salamonie Summer Festival Princess. She advanced this year to the 9 to 13 age class, also winning the Miss Photogenic award in her group. She is the daughter of Shonna Leas and Mick Leas, and was sponsored by the Warren Fire Department.

Leas is in the third grade at Southern Wells Elementary School. She is on the high honor roll at her school.

She has won first place in the Run for Energy 5K, Run for Freedom 5K and December Dash 5K, and has won second place in the Wells County Ironkid Triathlon. She has also won the Cutest Diva award.

Her interests include basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, girl scouts and running 5Ks.

Her future aspirations include becoming a nurse who works with children.

Alexis Weaver won first runner-up in the group. She is the daughter of Rodney and Candace Timms. Second runner-up was Lacey Nightenhelser, the daughter of Erica Williams and Keith Bruce and Jason and Crystal Nightenhelser.

Other girls who particpated in the Junior Miss class included Shaylyn Suchicki and Abagayle Wright.

The winner of the Little Miss Warren contest, Pursifull, 6, is the daughter of Scott and Melissa Pursifull. She was sponsored by the Pursifull family.

Pursifull is in the first grade at Salamonie Elementary School. She in involved in mini 4-H and collects pop tabs to donate to Riley Hospital.
Her interests include gymnastics, playing outside and helping her dad on the farm.

When she grows up, Pursifull wants to be a farmer.

Kendal Zavattaro won first runner-up in the group. She is the daughter of Matthew and Jessica Zavattaro. Second runner-up was Nora McDaniel, the daughter of Aaron and Tara McDaniel.

Elsa Fortney won the Miss Photogenic award in her class. She is the daughter of Dustin and Shana Fortney.

Other girls who participated in the Little Miss class for ages 5 to 8 included Addalyn Boardman, Mallory Gifford, Aubrie Linker, Isabella Lechien, Kylynn Slusher, Lola Smith and Adaira Stockman.

The three winners received a tiara, trophy, sash and a cash award. Their duties will include officiating at events during the Salamonie Summer Festival, July 3 through 5. More information on the festival can be found online at www.Warrenindiana.us.
