Elvis impersonator, Cline music on tap for Sr. Expo
Monday, May 13, 2013 8:23 AM
An Elvis impersonator, the music of Patsy Cline and jazz renditions by local students are just a few of the acts on tap for the ninth annual Huntington County Senior Expo.
The event, organized by the Huntington County Council on Aging, will be held on Thursday, May 23, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Merillat Complex fieldhouse on the campus of Huntington University. Everything is free - admission, food and entertainment - and prizes will be given away by the many businesses and organizations offering information about services for Seniors.
Gordy Clemens will return to the expo with his performance as an Elvis tribute artist. Clemens will also serve as master of ceremonies for the day.
Shade 'n' Shannon, a local duo that performs at fairs and celebrations throughout Indiana and Ohio, will be new this year to the expo's entertainment line-up.
Dancing exhibitions will be performed by the Parkview Huntington Family YMCA dancing group, featuring tap, jazz, clogging and ballet; the Gotta Dance ballroom dancers; and the Senior line dancing group.
The Crestview Middle School seventh grade band and the Lime City Jazz Orchestra from Huntington North High School will both perform and country music artist Judy Ann will present a tribute to Patsy Cline.
Each visitor to the expo will receive a passport, and those who have their passports stamped by at least half of the booths at the expo will be entered in a drawing for one of 12 Walmart gift cards.
The Country Post has joined with three other businesses that are providing free food at the expo and will serve cookies as a morning snack. Sodexo Food Services of Huntington University is serving breakfast, Miller's Merry Manor will provide lunch and Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Meadowvale will provide the afternoon snack.
Autumn Ridge Rehabilitation Center and Coventry Meadows Healthcare have joined previously announced corporate sponsors, including Humana Marketpoint, Huntington Heating and Cooling, Markle Health & Rehabilitation, Miller's Merry Manor, Myers Funeral Homes, Norwood Health and Rehabilitation Center and United REMC.
