Show to go on in Andrews as Western Days sets activities

The show will go on in Andrews this year as Andrews Western Days will run Friday, Aug. 24, through Saturday, Aug. 25, with a schedule of events announced recently.

The festival will conclude with musical entertainment provided by The Blue River Band from Indianapolis performing country western hits in front of Andrews Town Hall.

The events scheduled for this year's festival are:

Friday, Aug. 24
• All day community garage sales, throughout town.

• Cowboy John Amusements (moonwalks and slides), from 4 p.m. to 9 pm., on the town hall lawn.

• Craft booths, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., in the town hall parking lot.

• Ice cream social, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church, located at 116 S. Main St., Andrews. Vanilla and chocolate ice cream will be served with toppings.

This event is free and open to the public, while freewill donations will be accepted.

• Winners of the annual "Cutie Contest" will be announced at the Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church, at 8 p.m.

• Musical entertainment, provided by disc jockey, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Main Street in front of the town hall.

Saturday, Aug. 25
• All day community garage sales, throughout town.

• Lions Club Coaches Pitch Tournament, starting at 9 a.m., at the Lions Club ballpark. The games are free and open to the public, with six teams from Andrews and the surrounding areas competing.

• Parade line-up at 9 a.m. in front of Andrews Fire Department.

• Parade at 10 a.m. Parade route is from the Andrews Fire Department to Andrews Elementary School.

• Book and Bake Sale,from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the library.

• Crafts from 11 a.m. to noon at the library. Face painting will also be offered.

• Craft booths, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the town hall parking lot.

• Cowboy John Amusements, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., on the town hall lawn.

• Mud bogs, 11:30 a.m., end of Terrell Street (off Main Street). Truck sign-in starts at 10:30. There is a charge for truck entry and spectators. Also, there will be a Power Wheels mud pit for children, with an entry fee.

• The Blue River Band, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., on Main Street in front of town hall.
