HU seniors Davenport, Johnson earn All-America honors

Huntington University seniors Lauren Davenport and Nick Johnson finished fourth in their respective events at the NAIA Track & Field National Championships recently to earn All-America honors.

Davenport eclipsed her own school record in the 800-meter run with a 2:07.38 to earn her first All-America honor on the track.

Johnson shaved nearly three seconds off his personal best time with a 14:43.18 in the 5,000- meter run.

Senior Dan Lindbloom missed earning All-America honors by just one spot but matched his best finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, placing seventh in 9:16.87.

Lucas Beach was 17th in the shot put with a toss of 50-06 and the women's 1,600-meter relay team of Josann Schoeff, Michelle Kyler, Bethany McGraw and Davenport finished 26th with a time of 4:12.11.

Eight Foresters also received national recognition as NAIA All-America Scholar-Athletes.

The student-athletes earning the honor include Whitney Abbott, Kayley Cervenka, Davenport, Luke Diehl, Johnson, Kyler, McGraw and Jill Roughia.
