Hamilton, Tackett lead HNHS golfers to regional

Sophomores Neal Hamilton and EJ Tackett fired rounds of 76 and 78, respectively, on Friday, June 5, at the Huntington North Boys' golf Sectional Tournament to lead Huntington North into regional play next week.

The Vikings fired a score of 321 to place second behind champion Norwell and earn one of three team regional tickets to Muncie next Friday.

Norwell recorded a score of 300 to easily out-distance Huntington North, with Bellmont placing third among 13 teams with a 327.

Among those on the outside looking in were Eastbrook, fourth at 345; Mississinewa, fifth at 349; Marion, sixth at 350, Blackford, seventh at 371; and South Adams, eighth at 380.

Senior Brandon Whitesell was third scorer for HNHS with an 83, and junior Garrett Bracht was one stroke back with an 84.

Freshman Jordan Sweet was non-scorer with a 91.
Luke Ainsworth of Bellmont was medalist in the event with a 73, and Norwell teammates Tyler Imel and McCormick Clouser tied for second with rounds of 74.

The top three individuals not on an advancing team, who qualified for regional, were Andrew Weiland of Eastbrook, who shot a 76; Franklin Crist of Blackford, who shot a 77; and Blake McQueen of Eastbrook and Dalton Miller of Mississinewa, both of whom fired rounds of 81.
