The Huntington North High School girls' varsity basketball team split its two games at its own TCU Lady Vikings Holiday Classic on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
In the early game, the Lady Vikes lost a tight contest to Hamilton Heights, 66-64. Taylor Foley led the Lady Vikes in points and rebounds, with 20 and 14, respectively.
Alyssa Hurlburt had 12 points and five rebounds and Liesl Davenport added 10 points and five rebounds. Hayley Bradford chipped with with four assists.
The Lady Vikes and Lady Huskies played to a 50-50 tie after the first three quarters, although HNHS went into halftime with a 38-30 advantage.
Jessica Carr led Hamilton Heigfhts with a game-high 28 points.
The Lady Vikes rebounded in their second game, beating East Chicago, 68-45. Kayla Schenkel was the top scorer with 15 points.
Foley recorded her second double-double of the day with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Bradford and Liesl Davenport added 13 and 10 points, respectively, and Mariah Town dished out six assists.
The Lady Vikings used a 15-6 advntage in the second quarter to turn a 17-14 first quarter deficit into a 29-23 halftime lead. They ran out and hid in the third quarter with a 25-11 edge, giving them a comfortable 54-34 margin after three quarters.
Arielle Mabon and Mariah Lewis each scored 10 points to lead East Chicago.
The Lady Vikes, 4-7, will host North Side on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 6:15 p.m.
