Chambers, Cotton earn NCC track coaches of year honors

The Huntington North Vikings captured two North Central Conference titles this spring, both in track.

Which then makes for no surprise that both track coaches, Clark Chambers, for the boys, and Don Cotton, for the girls, are being honored as NCC track coaches of the year.

"It's a very nice award to receive from your peers," says Chambers. "But with that being said, I had very little to do with it. My assistant coaches are fabulous ... they make my job easy."

Cotton has been voted girls' cross country coach of the year every fall season for each of the five years Huntington North has been in the North Central Conference, but never the track coach of the year.
This year, along with the girls' track coach of the year award, he also won coach of the year for all the girls' sports throughout the year, and with that he feels "really honored" to be selected from all the names that each school's athletic director submits.

Huntington North had 23 athletes announced as all-conference in their respective sports.

They are: Whitney Neuenschwander, for girls' tennis; Tayah Kline, Alli Harris, Cora Frame, Emilie Jamison, Mariah Town, Kayla Schenkel, Alyssa Hurl-burt, Olivia Eckert, Cas-sie Hacker, Nicole Smith and Natalie Spahr for girls' track; Rob Sands, Josh Graham and Rex Drabenstot for boys' track; Morgan Broderick and Maureen Lund for softball; E.J. Tackett and Garrett Bracht for boys' golf; and Jamon Ham-mel, Taylor Harris, Nick Miller and Brett Wiley for baseball.

Huntington North also had 17 athletes an-nounced on the all-academic team.

They are: Karissa Miller, Whitney Switzer and Whitney Neuen-schwander for girls' tennis; Jamon Hammel, Rachel Clor (manager), Bret Thompson and Taylor Harris for baseball; Tayah Kline, Kiela Clore, Alli Harris, Samantha Wright, Kayla Lund and Emilie Jamison for girls' track; Megan Burnworth, Alecia John-son and Lindsey Karst for softball and Jon Stof-fel for boys' track.
