Thunder wins tourney in Michigan

The Indiana Thunder '96 softball team won the 12U division of the Compuware Classic in Canton, MI, in late June.

The team opened elimination play with a victory over the Michigan Warriors by a score of 11-1, with Erin Rethlake, of Huntington, and Lexy Britt sharing duties on the mound. Brooke Herendeen had two singles, Sarah Thompson, Britt, Rene Spaulding and Ashley Ousley each one.

The Thunder then defeated the Lady Lasers from Ohio 7-4, behind Rethlake's pitching. Rethlake had a double and 3 RBI, Spaulding and Herendeen both doubles, and Britt and Kylee Rostochak both singles.

Britt chalked up both the semi-final victory against Cincy Doom, which the Thunder won 8-1, and also the 12-4 championship win against the Indy Blast.

In the Cincy Doom victory Brianne O'Dell and Britt both had two singles, Thompson and Ousley doubles, and Spaulding, Emily Catanzarite and Bailey O'Dell all singles.

The offense in the championship game was lead by Thompson with a triple, double and single, and Rostochak with two doubles and a single.

Also contributing with hits were Britt with three singles, Rethlake, Catanzarite, Herendeen and Ousley all with two singles and Brianne O'Dell and Spaulding also had singles.
