Oak Lanes bowling alley in Huntington will play host to the seventh annual Huntington County Bowling Camp, which will begin on Tuesday, July 14, for children and adults ages 7 to 21.
Participants will receive focused instruction and practice on aspects of technique and rules of the game, including learning to keep score, striking corner pins, the follow-through and the approach.
The camp, run by Mel Fruit, will be taught by United States Bowling Congress certified coaches. All coaches have had experience in instructing high school, college or league bowling. All league coaches have had at least 10 years of experience. Fruit is the junior varsity coach for the Huntington North High School girls' bowling team.
The public is invited to attend, and participants need not be part of a bowling league or intend to become part of a bowling league to be in the camp.
A small fee covers the cost of a T-shirt, a pizza party and six three-hour instruction sessions.
Beginning July 14, the camp will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with the last session on Thursday, July 30.
Participants may register before the camp or at the first session.
