Kaytlyn Kreider scored a season-high 17 points and Allyson Trout added 14 as the Huntington North High School girls' varsity basketball team stopped visiting Muncie Central, 59-44, on Friday, Jan. 27.
The Lady Vikings, 4-14, jumped off to a 22-13 lead after one quarter of play and never looked back against the 1-7 Lady Bearcats. HNHS had a 35-18 lead at halftime and was up 46-28 heading into the final frame.
Kreider, a 5-8 senior, hit 7 of 8 shots form the field on the way to her scoring output, but she didn't stop there, grabbing a team high 11 rebounds and chipping in three assists.
The Lady Vikes also got eight points from Taylor Pursifull and six points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals from Cora Frame.
The Lady Vikes hit 13 of 28 first half shots for 46.4 percent on the way to their big lead before cooling off to a game total of 21 of 50, 42 percent. They connected on 5 of 12 three-point tries for 41.7 percent.
Kristi Rhoades and LaNey Johnson each scored 10 points to lead Muncie Central, which hit 18 of 36 shots form the field for 50 percent. The HNHS defense forced 23 Muncie Central turnovers, however, which Huntington turned into a 29-6 edge on the scoreboard.
