The Huntington University women's basketball team shot themselves into a loss to host and top-ranked Indiana Wesleyan, 62-30, on Wednesday, Feb. 1.
The Foresters, dropping to 15-8, hit only 6 of 33 field goal attempts - including just 1 of 15 in the second half -- for an anemic 18.2 percent against the Wildcats, who upped their season mark to 23-2, 12-1 in the Mid Central Conference.
The Foresters hit 5 of 18 shots from the field on the way to a 33-16 first half deficit.
Lauren Meese led the Foresters with nine points, using 7 of 8 free throw shooting to get there. No one else in the HU lineup scored more than five points.
Rachel Steinbarger and Paige Smith each scored 13 points to lead IWU. Krystal Stoneking added 10 points.
Kelsey Green led HU on the boards with seven rebounds, Meese got the only two assists HU had and she also had three steals.
IWU hit 22 of 48 from the field for 45.8 percent, including going 9 of 24 for 37.5 percent from three-point range.
