Visiting Kokomo lit up the Huntington North High School scoreboard with a 99-70 victory over the Vikings on Friday, Feb. 3.
Kalvin Miller's 25 points led four HNHS players in double figures, but D.J. Ballentine scored 27 points - in just three quarters - to lead five Wildkats in double figures as Kokomo showed North why it's ranked sixth in the state in Class 4A with a 15-3 record.
The Vikings dropped to 3-14 overall and 0-4 in the North Central Conference.
Miller, a junior, scored 16 of the Vikings' 19 points in the second quarter, but HNHS still trailed at halftime 49-32. They went into the final frame on the down side of a 79-56 score.
Levi Lawson provided offensive back-up to Miller with 14 points, and Trenton Kern and Noah Reed each had 10 points. Kern and Reed also had four assists apiece for the Vikes, who shot 23 of 46 from the field for 50 percent.
Ballentine hit three three-pointers in the first quarter to help Kokomo to a 26-13 lead.
LaBradford Sebree had 17 points for Kokomo, Tayler Persons scored 13, Tony Moses had 11 and Erik Bowen had 10.
