There were strong showings by several Huntington county residents and local swim team members at this year's Glen S. Hummer Huntington Mile at Lake Clare on Saturday, June 16.
In the men's 1.76K open water swim, Walter Hacker finished first in the 16-24 age group with a time of 26:01.65. In the 35-39 age group, Sean Stanley finished first with a final time of 26:02.71. Following Stanley were Curtis Hines in second and Justin Wall in third.
Kevin Amick came in second in the 50-54 age group. In the 55-59 age group, Alan Amick placed second. Gary Dilley, silver medalist at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo in the men's 200-meter backstroke, placed second in the 65-69 age group.
In the women's 1.76K open water swim, Holly Harris placed first in the 25-29 age group with a time of 36:17.70.
In the girls' 10 and under 880-meter open water swim, Sarah Mahnensmith placed fourth, Alexandria Aschliman fifth, Elaine Shaw sixth, Riley Zoll, seventh and Grace Poling eighth.
In the boys' 10 and under 880-meter open water swim, Aaron Dies placed second and Jacob Daugherty placed fifth.
In the boys' 1.76K open water swim for the 11-12 age group, Brady Robinson placed second, Preston Daoust was fifth, Corbin Cozad seventh, Evan Dies eighth and Walker Copeland, ninth. In the 13-14 age group, Logan Brugh placed fifth and Zane Cozad placed 10th.
In the girls 1.76K open water swim, Kayla Molnar finished first in the 13-14 age group with a time of 22:19.96, Paige Miller finished seventh and Brooke Buckingham finished ninth.
Breanna Robinson finished first in the 15-18 age group with a time of 21:00.46. Madeline Bradford finished sixth and Brittany L. Robinson finished seventh. In the 19 and over age group, Sarah A. Rozow placed third.
