The Mid-Central College Conference has changed its name to Crossroads League.
Huntington University is one of 10 colleges and universities that are a part of the athletic conference.
The conference also includes Bethel College, Goshen College, Grace College, Indiana Wesleyan University, Marian University, Mt. Vernon Nazarene University, the University of St. Francis, Spring Arbor University and Taylor University.
Research on the name change began in the fall of 2011 when League Commissioner J.D. Collins began a discussion with school presidents, athletic directors, coaches and sports information directors. A consulting company and branding agency then became involved, and the new name was approved in late April.
The new name, Collins says, communicates the conference's location in the Midwest, the faith-based nature of the institution and the elite athletic programs those institutions offer.
