The Huntington North High School girls' varsity basketball team fell to 4-9 on the season with a 60-47 non-conference lost to host Jay County on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
After a 16-10 first quarter lead, Jay County applied the pressure and added 20 more points in the second quarter to the Lady Vikings' 12 to go up 36-22 at the half. A low-scoring third quarter saw the Lady Vikings on the bottom side of a 43-28 deficit.
Top performers for the night were Taylor Foley, with 14 points and 11 rebounds; Liesl Davenport, with 12 points eight rebounds and four assists; and Alyssa Hurlburt and Mariah Town, who each had eight points and four rebounds.
The team shot 44.2 percent from the field and out-rebounded Jay County 32-28.
Pazia Speed and Kaelee Keller led Jay County with 20 and 17 points, respectively.
The HNHS junior varsity also lost its contest, 29-18, to fall to 9-4.
Jay County did most of the damage in the second and third quarters, where they scored 11 and 10 points respectively, to Huntington North's four and seven, respectively.
Cora Frame led the Lady Vikes in scoring with seven points and Tajsha Shrock had a team-high three steals.
The teams will host Northrop, on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 6:15 p.m.
