A doubles sweep was just not enough for the Huntington North High School boy's tennis team as it lost its season-opener, 2-3, to visiting Peru on Tuesday, Aug. 14.
Juniors Wyatt Nave and Cameron Buzzard teamed up to beat Jack Zvers and Kreighton Ray, 6-2, 6-0, at first doubles, and sophomore Nathan Lundy and junior Andrew Smith at second doubles won 6-3, 6-3 over Kameron Graham and Zach Hill, but Peru won all three singles matches in straight sets.
Junior Aaron Gilmore went down, 2-6, 2-6, to Joe Comerford at first singles, and fellow junior Tommy Bolinger at second singles took a 1-6, 3-6 loss to Austin Finicle. Matt Sieberns, another junior, lost to Braden Bales at third singles, 1-6, 2-6.
In the only junior varsity match, sophomore Hunter Phillips of Huntington North took an 8-0 decision from Kameron Wernz.
