Forester netmen open season with loss to UNOH

The Huntington University men's tennis team opened up its season with a loss against host University of Northwestern Ohio, 1-8, on Thursday, Aug. 30.

Joseph Straznicky's match at No. 4 singles was the lone bright spot for the Foresters, Straznicky defeating Cassio Sirimarco, 6-4, 2-6, 12-10.

Vladislav Khudziy fell to Daniel Rueda at No. 1 singles, 0-6, 2-6. Jose Hungria's match with Gustavo Rueda at No. 2 singles was a bit more competitive, going three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 7-10. Diego Inurritegui dropped his match at third singles to Emin Alpan, 4-6, 1-6. Zakk Sparks fell to Sam Rutter at fifth singles, 3-6, 0-6, and Jacob Cross lost to Akira Kuwada at sixth singles, 0-6, 0-6.

In doubles play, Khudziy and Hungria fell to the Ruedas, 4-8, at first doubles. At second doubles, Straznicky and Inurritegui lost to Alpan and Rutter, 7-9. Sparks and Cross, playing at third doubles, were defeated by Sirimarco and Paulo Conceicao, 1-8.
