IWU outlasts Forester netmen

The Huntington University men's tennis team was outlasted by host Indiana Wesleyan University, 4-5, on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

Vlad Khudziy and Diego Inurritegui were double winners for the Foresters, 3-3 overall and 3-1 in Crossroads League play, as each won their singles matches and was part of a winning doubles team.

Khudziy took first singles over Kyle Johnson, 6-2, 6-3, and teamed with Jose Hungria for a first doubles win over Johnson and Alex McMahan, 8-2. Inurritegui downed McMahan at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-3, and teamed with Joseph Straznicky for a 9-8 squeaker over Brandon Dubuque and Leonard Matthews.

Hungria at second singles lost a tough three-setter to Matthews, 6-3, 4-6, 5-7, and Straznicky at third singles was a 3-6, 3-6 loser to Dubuque. At fifth singles, Zakk Sparks lost 0-6, 2-6 to Daniel Stoddard, and Arjun Bhalla at sixth singles lost 3-6, 4-6 to Alex Hornett.

Sparks and Bhalla lost at third doubles, 4-8, to Hornett and Stoddard.
