HNHS boys' tennis team puts away Adams Central

The Huntington North High School boys' varsity tennis team soundly defeated visiting Adams Central 4-1 on Monday, Aug. 24.

In singles, David Ballard defeated Adams Central's Nathan Barger 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. Viking Chris Royer beat Jet Kam Fiechter 6-0, 6-1. Huntington North's Phillip Truitt beat Adams Central's Keaton Fiechter 6-3, 6-2.

The Viking duo of Matt Harter and Christian Webb beat the Jet team of Evan Timmons and Derek Roe 6-3, 6-2.

However, senior team Adam Klaffke and Ian Kardatzke lost to Jets Austin Neadstine and Josh Smith, 2-6, 6-3, 4-6, in the varsity series' only loss for the Vikes.

The Viking junior varsity team also won its match, 5-4.
Huntington North's Neal Hamilton beat Adams Central's Derek Hanni 4-1, 5-3. Keith Stambaugh won over Jet Pierce Harris 4-2, 5-4 (11-9). Viking Jeremy Rice beat Cody Walburn 2-4, 4-1 (10-5).

Huntington North's Luke Hoffman lost to AC's Jon Weil, 1-4, 1-4, and Viking Tyler Bracht lost to Hanni 2-6.

In doubles, Viking sophomore pair Ethan Hethcote and Ben North defeated Dylan Krueger 4-3, 4-3. HNHS's Josh Pinney and Tyler Carroll beat Isaac Bransteter and Isaac Luginbill 4-2, 3-4 (5-7) (8-6).

Viking junior duo Alex Sereno and Stephen Reich lost to Ryan Colchin and Jacob Bergdall 1-4, 1-4. Brad Homme and Alex DeNicolo fell to the same Adams Central pair 2-6.

Monday's match leaves both the varsity and junior varsity tennis squads with records of 3-1.
