HU men's tennis team blanks Bethel, 9-0

Led by Diego Inurritegui's whitewash at fourth singles, the Huntington University men's tennis team blanked visiting Bethel College, 9-0, on Thursday, Sept. 27.

Inurritegui, a freshman from Peru, dropped Kevin Kirkland, 6-0, 6-0, to lead HU to its fourth win in 10 outings this season.

Inurritegui went without losing a game the entire day as he and partner Joseph Straznicky shut out Kirkland and Mason Heller, 8-0, at second singles.

Zakk Sparks and Jacob Cross at third singles also pitched a shutout, defeating Gavin McGrath and Kyle Hanby, 8-0.

Vlad Khudziy and Jose Hungria at first singles were the only ones to drop a game, beating Ethan Turner and Rafael Barreto, 8-1.

Khudziy at first singles beat Turner, 6-3, 6-0; Hungria at second singles topped Barreto, 6-2, 6-3; Straznicky at third singles crushed Heller, 6-1, 6-0; Sparks at fifth singles defeated McGrath, 6-0, 6-2, and Arjun Bhalla at sixth singles topped Luke Hoffman, 6-3, 6-4.
