A balanced rushing attack and a stout defensive effort carried the Huntington North High School varsity football team to a 31-14 victory over visiting Muncie Central on Friday, Sept. 28.

Running back Austin Rosen and quarterback Drew Schnitz combined to rush for 149 yards, with Rosen contributing 81 of them and a score and Schnitz the other 68 and two scores.

Schnitz found the end zone through the air, too, as he completed nine of 17 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown

Wide receiver Paul Ehler was on the receiving end of the scoring toss and caught four passes for 92 yards for the game.

Running back Braydin Stell rushed for a touchdown to round out the scoring for the Vikings.

Linebacker Matthew Mounsey had six tackles for the Huntington North defense, which limited Muncie Central's scoring to a single touchdown in each half. Defensive backs Chris Akeley and Tyler Veilleux each grabbed an interception for the Vikings' cause and linebacker Mason Bickel recorded a sack.

Huntington North, 4-3 on the season and 4-1 in the North Central Conference, will have a showdown on the road with conference leader Richmond next week. The Red Devils, 5-2, are unbeaten in the NCC at 5-0.
