Kasicki, Spasic get several wins in HU netwomen losses

Cassie Kasicki and Alex Spasic each picked up two wins but the Huntington University women‘s tennis team dropped matches to visiting Cedarville University and host Spring Arbor University in two separate matches on Saturday, Sept. 29.

The Foresters, 3-8, lost to Cedarville 4-5 despite Kasicki and Spasic teaming to win first doubles and both winning singles matches. Against Spring Arbor, the Foresters fell 2-7 as Kasicki and Spasic earned singles wins.

Against Cedarville, Kasicki beat Lily Schuler at first singles, 6-1, 6-3, and Spasic at second singles defeated Brooke Johnson, 6-2, 7-5. In doubles, the pair defeated Johnson and Joy Dice, 8-6.

Jessica Abel at fourth singles got the other HU win, defeating Melissa Stoltzfus, 6-4, 7-6.
Against Spring Arbor, Kasicki topped Kristin DeBruyn, 6-4, 6-3 at first singles, and Spasic defeated Hope Roelofs, 7-5, 6-3, at second singles.

Against Cedarville, Katie Johnson of HU lost to Dice at third singles, 1-6, 1-6; Ciara Smith at first singles lost to Courtney Heydt, 0-6, 2-6 and Amber Bos at sixth singles fell to Maryssa Herbert, 2-6, 1-6.

In doubles, Johnson and Abel lost to Stoltzfus and Schuler, 6-8, and Macy Phillips and Madison Johnson lost 6-8 to Emma Rahn and Heydt at third doubles.

Against Spring Arbor, Katie Johnson lost at third singles to Jenna Bart, 2-6, 2-6; Abel lost at fourth singles to Quincy Banini, 2-6, 0-6; Smith at fifth singles lost to Kellie Cross, 1-6, 2-6; and Bos at sixth singles lost to Katie Storrer, 0-6, 0-6.

In doubles, Kasicki and Spasic lost to DeBruyn and Roelofs, 6-8, at first doubles, Katie Johnson and Abel lost by the same score at second doubles to Banini and Paige Fallu and Smith and Madison Johnson lost at third singles, 2-8, to Bart and Storrer.
