HNHS girls' cross country team scores a perfect 15 to win NCC championship

The Huntington North High School girls' varsity cross country team won the North Central Conference championship in impressive fashion, sweeping the first five places for a perfect score of 15 on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at Indiana Wesleyan University, in Marion.

Kayla Patrick led the way for the Lady Vikings, finishing first in 19:51.68.

After Patrick, Hannah Stoffel finished second in 20:07.59, Robyn Karst placed third in 20:12.74, Marie Ditzler snagged fourth in 20:34.28 and Karson Rowe secured fifth in 20:46.52 to complete the team's flawless day.

Marissa Jamison came in sixth for HNHS and seventh overall in 20:52.24 and Stephanie McElhaney was seventh for the Lady Vikes and eighth overall in 20:39.30 to round out the team.

Marion came in second with a score of 65 and Logansport's tally of 91 was good for third.

HNHS head coach Don Cotton won Coach of the Year honors.
