Lady Vike harriers 23rd at Portage

The Huntington North High School girls' varsity cross country team finished 23rd out of 38 teams in the Portage Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Hannah Stoffel finished first for the Lady Vikings in a personal-best 19:45, good for 61st place among the 228 runners.

Marissa Jamison came in second for Huntington North in 20:25, also a personal-best time, and was 104th overall. Stephanie McElhaney was third in 20:47 and 120th overall, with Emily Eherenman close behind, in fourth at 20:57 and in 132nd place. Hannah Peters finished fifth in 21:36, good for 167th place, to round out the team's scoring.

Cassidy Johnson finished in 21:38 for 172nd place and Taryn Doering clocked in at 21:51 for 177th place to complete the varsity team, which was without Kayla Patrick, Robyn Karst, Marie Ditzler and Karson Rowe due to SAT testing.

Karst, though, did arrive in time for the reserve race and was the individual champion, finishing in 19:39.

Lauren Daas finished second for the Lady Vikings in 21:29, good for 41st place among the 375 runners. Bernadette Christiansen was third in a personal-best 23:23 for 171st place. Kayla Farrell also ran a personal-best time, 23:55, and was fourth for the team and in 209th place. Rachel Nalliah was fifth in 24:46, finishing in 256th place and Ally Faurote was sixth in 25:08, finishing 278th.
