Foresters fall to top-ranked IWU in Crossroads League tourney
Sunday, October 28, 2012 8:58 AM
The first appearance by the Huntington University men's soccer team in the Crossroads League tournament in four years ended after one quick game as the visiting Foresters were downed by top-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University, 2-1, on Saturday, Oct. 27.
The lone goal for HU was credited to IWU as an "own goal" as Wildcat goalie Josh Goepper carried a long HU shot into the goal due to his momentum at the 2:23 mark.
HU reciprocated on the gift seven minutes later as the ball caromed off a Forester player and got past HU goalie Drew Mattingly for the tying score.
Three minutes later IWU scored what proved to be the game-winner on a Corey Lopez goal off a Geoff Bowman assist.
HU finishes the season with a record of 8-9-2.
Forester goalie Drew Mattingly had three saves in the contest.
