Big fourth quarter by Carroll sends Lady Vikes to defeat

The Huntington North High School girls' varsity basketball team held a six-point lead on visiting Carroll heading into the fourth quarter of their home-opener on Tuesday, Nov. 13, but a 22-point quarter by the Lady Chargers overwhelmed the Lady Vikings, 51-44.
Allyson Trout led Huntington North, 0-2, with 17 points and seven rebounds. Kelsey Hollowell and Caitlyn Shrock added six points apiece and Paige Coolman grabbed as many rebounds.
Carroll's scoring attack was more balanced, with the Lady Chargers getting 18 points from Amy Poynter and 16 from Madison Peterson.
Carroll opened the game with a 15-9 edge, but the Lady Vikes went into halftime with a 24-21 advantage. They were up 35-29 heading into the final frame before Carroll outscored them 22-9.
Carroll trumped Huntington North in field goal percentage, 45.2 to 35.7. Carroll hit 19 of 42 field goal tries while the Lady Vikes hit 15 of 42.
In junior varsity action, Huntington North lost 31-24.
Madi Canady had nine points to go with six rebounds and Aly Grabner snatched seven rebounds to lead HNHS, 0-2.
