Five HU spikers earn Crossroads League honors

Five Huntington University players have earned All-Conference volleyball honors from the Crossroads League.
Codie Morey, of Blue Island, IL, was one of six rookies named to the All-Freshman Team. The setter averaged 4.3 assists per set and earned the starting spot as HU's setter in the latter part of the season.
Morey averaged 1.56 digs per game and finished the season with an 88.4 serving percentage.
For the second consecutive year, junior Melissa Grossman, of Huntington, was named Honorable Mention All-Conference. She led the team in kills with 178 and her .180 hitting percentage was also a team best.
Grossman also posted the most blocks with 65 and finished 10th in league standings for blocks per set (.70).
Joining Grossman as an Honorable Mention pick was Katie Bowers.
The senior from Silver Lake returned to the hardwood after a two-year hiatus and quickly established herself as one of the league's top defenders. Her team-high 4.11 digs per set garnered her the seventh spot in Crossroads play.
Junior Kaylee Searles was also named Honorable Mention All-Conference. The Van Buren resident was a consistent presence at the net.
Searless, a middle hitter, averaged 1.77 kills per game and finished second on the team in blocks with 61. She finished the season with only seven serving errors to lead the team with a 96.2 serving percentage.
Rounding out the Honorable Mention Team was sophomore Heather Med- ich, of Mendon, MI. As one of the Foresters' top hitters, Medich, a left side hitter, averaged 1.89 kills per set. She finished second on the team in digs with her 2.13 average.
