Miller-Jennings' big second half carries HU women past Marian

The Huntington University women's basketball team trailed host Marian by three at the half, but a 16-point second half by Sarah Miller-Jennings carried the Foresters to a 63-53 win on Wednesday, Nov. 28.

Miller-Jennings scored a game-high 22 points for 22nd-ranked Huntington, 6-2, 1-1 in Crossroads League play. Lauren Meese contributed 12 points to the Foresters' offensive effort and Pazia Speed added 11.

Lakan Hasser-Smith led the Knights with 15 points and Whitney Emerson recorded a double-double, tallying 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The teams had comparable shooting numbers, with Marian hitting 21 of 52 shots for a percentage of 40.4 to Huntington's 21 of 54 for a 38.9 mark.

Huntington played a tighter game overall, committing only 10 turnovers to Marian's 23, and made the Knights pay at the free throw line, sinking 20 of 22 attempts for 90.9 pecent. The Knights, by comparison, only made it to the charity stripe 10 times, where they converted eight attempts for 80 percent.

Allison Greene had three assists to lead HU in that department, and Lauren Meese recorded five steals.
