Lady Vikes push Luers to OT before falling

It took overtime for the Huntington North High School girls' varsity basketball team and host Bishop Luers to settle their business on Tuesday, Dec. 11, with the Lady Vikings coming up just short of notching their first win of the season, 54-51.
The contest contained 14 lead changes and nine ties, with Huntington North having a 14-13 lead at the end of the first quarter but Luers clinging to a 26-25 lead at the half. The Vikings went into the fourth quarter with a 36-35 edge.
Allyson Trout paced the Lady Vikings, 0-9, with 15 points, a team-high seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. Hannah Stoffel supplied 10 points on 5 of 7 shooting, Kayla Patrick came off the bench to add another 10 points and Lindsey Foster totaled seven to go with five boards.
Addie Reimbold recorded a double-double for the Lady Knights, 4-5, putting up 15 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Tashayla Sutorius contributed 11 points on 4 of 6 shooting.
Bishop Luers shot 44.7 percent from the field on a 17 of 38 effort and Huntington North was close behind at 41.5 percent on a 22 of 53 showing. The difference came in the overtime as Huntington North went 1 for 6 from the floor and 0 for 1 at the line while the Lady Knights hit 1 of 2 field goal attempts and 3 of 5 free throws to put away the game.
Huntington North had 14 assists for its 22 hoops, with Kelsey Hollowell dishing out five to lead the way.
In the junior varsity game, Bishop Luers beat Huntington North 35-27.
Madi Canady had six points for the Lady Vikings and Hannah Williams grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.
