Krepp wins Hoosier Conference singles tourney crown

Huntington North High School senior Tyler Krepp won the Hoosier Conference Boys' Varsity Singles Bowling Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 29 at Bluffton.

Krepp dominated Dylan Retherford of Norwell in the final, 231-158, to earn his title after being the second seed for the top 16 bowlers.

Krepp beat teammate and 15th seed A.J. Bickel in the first playoff round, then topped 10th seeded Trevor Sanders of Bellmont, 222-191, in the quarterfinals. Krepp took down third-seeded Jared Rife of South Adams, 204-195, to advance to the finals.

Each player rolled three games to get seeded in the top 35 competion, with the field then pared down to the top 16 to make the playoff bracket.

Huntington North's Zac Tackett fired a 670 to be the No. 1 seed in the playoff, with Krepp shooting a 622 to place second.

Five Vikings made the top 16, with Cole Boyd placing fifth with a 605, Adam Harris-Shoemaker placing eighth with a 581 and Bickel being the 15th seed with a 535.

Tackett lost in the quarterfinals to Harris-Shoemaker, 219-191, and placed sixth overall when he lost a two-frame roll-off for the fifth and sixth places with Sanders as the two highest losing scorers.

Shoemaker was defeated in the semifinals by Retherford, 187-166, and wound up fourth overall.
