Standout performances by Sebastian Eckert, Kyle Jolas and Tanner Shipley weren't enough to keep the Huntington North High School boys' varsity wrestling team from going 0-5 at the Avon Super 6 Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 5.
The Vikings fell to Avon, 43-21; Fishers, 48-21; Danville, 68-6; Carmel, 39-26; and Harrison, 48-31.
Eckert, wrestling at 152 pounds, went 5-0, racking up four pins and a decision. Jolas, at 145, went 4-1 with three pins and a technical fall. Shipley, at 132, also went 4-1, getting two pins and two decisions.
Alex Beal, at 126, was 3-2, recording a pin and earning a pair of decisions. Layne Emery, at 195, went 3-2 on three decisions.
Shawn Renz went 2-3 at heavyweight, picking up a pin and a decision.
Ian Hiers, at 138, and Dakota Plasterer, at 170, each went 1-4, with the former notching a major decision and the latter forcing a pin.
