Merryman gets league accolade

Huntington University junior Shane Merryman closed out 2012 as the Crossroads League Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 24-30.

It marks the second time this season Merryman has been selected for this honor.

Merryman, a physical education management major from Fort Wayne's Carroll High School, led his team to six straight wins to wrap up the 2012 portion of the Forester schedule.

During the week of Dec. 17, the 6-5 forward was near perfect on the offensive end. He shot 78.1 percent (25-for-32) from the field and missed only one free throw in 23 attempts to pour in 25 points per outing.

He also averaged six boards and two assists for the week.
He currently ranks third in NAIA Division II in field goal percentage (67.5) and fourth in scoring (21.56).
