Viking frosh Kramer claims JV conference crown

Huntington North High School boys' junior varsity bowling team member Chad Kramer won the Hoosier Conference Junior Varsity Singles tournament at Oak Lanes Bowling Center, in Huntington, on Saturday, Jan. 5.
Kramer, a freshman, defeated Lady Viking Kaitlyn Conley in the championship match, 192-175. Kramer and Conley were two of 10 participants in the field of 47 to come from either the Huntington North boys' or girls' junior varsity teams.
The cut was made to the top 12 bowlers after three games, with seven Huntington North bowlers qualifying for bracket play.
In the first round, fellow Vikings Jon Scott, seeded 12th, and Lauren Smart, seeded fifth, faced off and Scott got the win, 198-156. Other winning Vikings were Kramer, seeded eighth, and Kylie Kaiser, seeded seventh, with Huntington North peers Cole Boyd, Conley and Trent Kline receiving byes by virtue of being the first, third and fourth seeds, respectively.
In second round action, Kramer upset Boyd, 178-172, and Kline defeated Scott, 169-163.
Conley also advanced, 188-138.
Kramer and Kline faced off in the third round, with Kramer squeaking by in the day's closest match, 176-175. Conley defeated her opponent, 175-160, to set up her showdown with Kramer for the championship.
Huntington North ended up with four out of the top five finishing positions, with Kramer at first, Conley at second, Kline at third and Boyd at fifth.
