Foresters blow away Goshen, 75-50

Shane Merryman scored 19 of his game-high 28 points in the second half as the Huntington University men's basketball team blew away visiting Goshen, 75-50, on Thursday, Jan. 10.

Merryman, a junior, connected on 9 of 13 shots from the field and all 10 of his free throw tries to lead the Foresters to their 12th win of the season in 19 games.

HU held a 36-21 lead at halftime and expanded the margin as high as 35 points in the second half.

Alec Peterson added 15 points and Colin Featherston had 11 for HU.

Merryman also had a game-high eight rebounds as the Foresters won the battle of the boards, 41-32.

Jerron Jamerson scored 13 points and Jan Zawadzki had 11 for Goshen.

Ryan Boester and Stephen Jones each had four assists for HU, which jumped out to a 12-2 lead in the first four minutes of the contest and was up 19-2 before Goshen made its second field goal of the game.

HU hit 26 of 56 shots for 46.4 percent for the contest and went 21 of 28 from the charity stripe for 75 percent. Goshen connected on 18 of 53 shots for 34 percent and 10 of 13 free throws for 76.9 percent.
