Saturday, January 12, 2013 2:31 PM
Visiting Anderson's press was too much for the Huntington North High School girls' basketball team to handle as it fell 68-30 on Friday, Jan. 11.
Dropping to 3-12, the Lady Vikes gave up 31 points off of 24 steals and 15 turnovers. It also didn't help that the Lady Indians hit 30 of 54 shots for 55.6 percent for the contest.
Anderson, 11-4, took a 12-7 lead after the first frame and expanded the margin to 31-15 by halftime. The visitors led 49-22 after three quarters.
Freshman Hannah Stoffel led HNHS with nine points.
Anderson had four players reach double figures in scoring, led by Savanah Jones and Da'Sha Boyd with 12 points each. Dabriona Williams and Taylor Potts came off the Anderson bench to score 10 points apiece.
The Lady Vikes hit 13 of 36 shots from the field for 36.1 percent and found the range on only 4 of 10 free throws for 40 percent.
Paige Coolman led the Lady Vikings' board efforts with five rebounds.
Corinne Tester hit 1 of 2 free throws to provide the winning points for the HNHS junior varsity in a 38-37 overtime win over Anderson.
Tester scored a game-high 11 points, and Ellie Lawson added 10. Hannah Williams had eight rebounds and Aly Grabner had seven points and seven rebounds.
