Carroll tops Lady Vike gymnasts

The Huntington North High School varsity gymnastics team was beaten by host Carroll, 103.975-97.525, on Wednesday, Jan. 16.

The Chargers swept all four events, although the Lady Vikings made things tough on vault, with Robyn Karst turning in a score of 8.850 to tie for first place.

Hannah Bomba's 7.950 snagged her fourth place on uneven bars, Mikayla Carpenter's 8.050 was good enough for fifth on balance beam and Alexa Shoemaker's 8.800 landed her in fifth on the floor exercise.

Mavin Chaney was the top-finishing Lady Vike in the all-around, turning in a total score of 32.150 to capture fifth.

Huntington North fell by a slim margin in the junior varsity meet, 89.850-87.650.

The Lady Vikings won the uneven bars, led by Erica Friese's first place finish with a score of 7.350.

Friese and Bomba tied for second on the balance beam with matching scores of 6.750, while Allie Christian grabbed second on the vault with an 8.150 and second in the all-around with a total score of 28.150.
