Senior Allyson Trout recorded season-highs in points and rebounds and the Huntington North High School girls' varsity basketball team defeated visiting New Castle, 57-50, on Saturday, Jan. 19.
Trout turned in a 23-point performance on 7 of 9 shooting, which included a 5 for 5 showing from beyond the arc, and had 12 boards for the double-double.
Lindsey Foster supplied 11 points to the Lady Vikings' cause and Kelsey Hollowell added seven to go with a game-high eight assists.
Huntington North led 10-2 after the first quarter, but a run in the second by New Castle, 6-11, put the Lady Vikings, 4-13, at a 21-18 disadvantage at the half.
The team responded by shooting 57.9 percent in the second half, sinking 11 of 19 attempts, and hitting 12 of 18 free throws for 66.7 percent to come back and get the win.
Shelby Alderson paced the Lady Trojans with 19 points.
Huntington North edged New Castle in shooting for the contest, making 17 of 37 shots for 45.9 percent versus the Lady Trojans' 18 for 44 output for 40.9 percent.
Hollowell added four steals to the HNHS cause.
