Jolas wins conference crown as HNHS wrestlers third

The Huntington North High School varsity wrestling team placed third out of four teams at the North Central Conference championship on Saturday, Jan. 19.
Kyle Jolas, wrestling at 145 pounds, was the champion of his weight class. The junior went 3-0 on three pins.
Huntington North produced four runners-up: Alex Beal at 126, Tanner Shipley at 132, Layne Emery at 195 and Josh Danals at 220.
Beal went 2-1, getting a pin and a major decision; Shipley achieved a 2-1 mark on two pins; Emery finished 1-1, notching a pin; and Danals got a pair of decisions to go 2-1.
Sebastian Eckert at 152 and Ian Hiers at 138 both finished third with matching 3-1 records. Eckert's wins came on three pins and Hiers got there on two decisions and a forfeit.
Dakota Plasterer at 170 and Shawn Renz at heavyweight each placed fourth. Plasterer was 1-2 with a pin and Renz was 2-2 with two pins.
Chandler Updike at 160 went 0-2 to complete the team.
