HNHS gymnasts fall to Logansport

A close win on the vault was not enough to carry the Huntington North High School gymnastics team as it lost to host Logansport, 104.825-98.525 on Monday, Jan. 21.

The Lady Vikes' trio of Robyn Karst, Mikayla Carpenter and Carly Snyder nipped the hosts on the vault, 25.85-25.775, for the team's best showing of the meet.
Karst scored an 8.75 to place second, Carpenter was third with an 8.600 and Snyder was fifth with an 8.500.

The Lady Vikes actually had their best team score on the floor exercise, scoring a 25.95 to the Lady Berries reaching 27 points. Carpenter placed third with an 8.85, Mavin Chaney was fourth with an 8.600 and Alexa Shoemaker was fifth with an 8.500.

Logansport topped the Lady Vikes on the uneven bars, 26.85-23. Hannah Bomba led HNHS with a 7.95 for fourth place, followed by Snyder in fifth with a 7.800 and Erica Friese in sixth with a 7.25.

The balance beam was won by Logansport, 25.2-23.725. Chaney was second with a score of 8.575, Ana Eckert took fifth with a 7.65 and Snyder was seventh with a 7.5.

Chaney, Snyder and Carpenter went 2-3-4, respectively, in all-around. Chaney tallied 32.6 points, Snyder had 31.9 and Carpenter scored a 31.6.
