Two Viking bowlers advance to regionals
Thursday, January 24, 2013 5:13 PM
Adam Harris-Shoemaker and Tyler Krepp finished second and seventh, respectively, in sectional play to advance to regionals for the Huntington North High School boys' varsity bowling team.
The top eight bowlers advanced from the 43-man field, on the strength of three individual games. Harris-Shoemaker rolled a 646 while Krepp had a 589.
Harris-Shoemaker's score was good enough to advance him to the stepladder finals along with the other three top scorers, which determines the sectional champion.
Harris-Shoemaker defeated Bluffton's Adam Schmidt, 222-174, to advance to the championship round, where he faced Norwell's Lukas Kingslien and fell by one pin in the last frame, 159-158.
Vikings bowlers not advancing to regionals are Chad Kramer, who rolled a 468 for 32nd place; A.J. Bickel, who recorded a 496 for 26th; Zac Tackett, who tallied a 525 for 21st; Jon Scott, who made a 533 for 18th; and Trent Kline, who achieved a 566 for 11th, just five pins short of an alternate position.
Regionals are Saturday, Feb. 2, at Pro Bowl West in Fort Wayne.
