Lady Vikes ride hot shooting to win

Shooters on the Huntington North High School girls' varsity basketball team heated up as their counterparts on host Muncie Central cooled down and the Lady Vikings won 46-38 on Friday, Jan. 25.
Allyson Trout and Lindsey Foster scored 11 apiece for Huntington North, 5-14, 3-4 in the North Central Conference. Hannah Stoffel supplied eight points to the Lady Vikings' cause and Paige Coolman delivered seven.
Huntington North upped its shooting percentage from 40 to 69.2 between the game's first and second halves, finishing the game shooting 53.6 percent off a 15 for 28 performance. Though the Lady Vikings trailed 11-6 after the first quarter, they outscored the Lady Bearcats 40-27 over the course of the next three.
Jayla Scaife put up 16 points for the Lady Bearcats, who saw their shooting percentage drop from 36 in the first half to 25 in the second, resulting in a 30.6 shooting percentage for the game on a 15 for 49 showing.
Huntington North's shooting touch wasn't limited to the field, as it made 16 of 19 free throw attempts for 84.2 percent. Muncie Central was particularly cold from three-point land, where it made only 2 of 15 tries for 13.3 percent.
The Lady Viking junior varsity blasted the Lady Bearcats, 43-14.
Natasha Grover led Huntington North with nine points on 4 of 4 shooting, six rebounds and three assists.
