Blue Racers tie, lose to Bluffton

The Blue Racers swimming team visited Bluffton Harrison on Monday, Feb. 4, and the girls' team came away with an 85-85 tie while the boys' team fell 82-56.

The girls' team, 0-0-1, got firstplace finishes from its 200-yard medley relay team consisting of Macy Lange, Alexis Miller, Emma Helmich and Alexandra Short; Emma Gordon in the 200-yard freestyle; Helmich in the 100-yard individual medley; Lange in the 400-yard freestyle; Lexi Miller in the 100-yard breaststroke; and the 300-yard freestyle relay team comprised of Gordon, Short, Helmich and Lange.

Netting second-place finishes were Short in the 200 and 400-yard freestyle; Bethany Brunner in the 50-yard butterfly; Sydney Wall in the 100-yard freestyle; and the 200-yard medley relay team of Brunner, Gordon, Carlee Kiefer and Reiley Brown.

First-place finishers for the boys' team, 0-1, were its 200-yard medley relay team composed of Paul Helmich, Cody Barton, Corbin Cozad and Hale Bowen; Cozad in the 50-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke; and Barton in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Swimming to second-place finishes were the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Keegan Mautz, Jacob Koons, Kevin King and Pryce Whisenhunt; and the 300-yard freestyle relay team consisting of Riley Bercik, Whisenhunt, Cozad and Barton.
