Jay County edges Lady Vike gymnasts

The Huntington North High School varsity gymnastics team was edged by host Jay County on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 100.70-98.70.

The Lady Vikings had their best team showing on the uneven parallel bars as they topped the hosts thanks to Hannah Bomba tying for second with a score of 8.125 and Erica Friese taking third with an 8.075. Robyn Karst was the third HNHS scorer with an 8.000.

The Lady Vikings got their most points on the vault as they tallied a 26.400. Karst took third with a score of 8.875, Carly Snyder scored an 8.800 and Mavin Chaney tallied an 8.725.

Snyder led the way for HNHS on the floor exercise with a score of 8.350, followed by Chaney with an 8.300 and Alexa Shoemaker with an 8.200.

Chaney placed second on the beam with a score of 8.375, followed by Snyder with a 7.475 and Mikayla Carpenter with a 6.825.

Chaney placed third in the all-around with a score of 33.35. Snyder tallied a 32.375 and Karst was at 31.625.

Competing for the junior varsity, Carpenter was number one on bars with a 7.275.

Allie Christian was second on the beam and bars, Erica Friese was second on floor, Marisa Kitt was third on bars and Shoemaker was third on vault.
